For centuries people have thought scarecrows were merely bundles of rags topped with a gourd. Their only purpose was to appear as a menacing figure that would deter animals from feasting upon farmer's crops. It is true
they are not a threat during the day, but once night falls these sentinels of fields dismount from their stands and patrol the area to which they are assigned.
Upon the arrival of dawn a scarecrow must return to its post and though it may appear immobile, it is ever watchful. Do not dare to trespass upon a scarecrow's domain for they are masters of fright and may scare you to death!
